Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your data.
When you create a WatchCord account, we collect your email address and a hashed version of your password — your plain-text password is never stored. When you use the Service, we collect data necessary to provide the monitoring features: this includes join event data from Discord servers you are a member of, such as usernames, account creation dates, and role information that is publicly visible within those servers. We also collect device information (browser type, operating system) for authentication and security purposes. We do not collect browsing history or track your activity outside of WatchCord.
We use the information we collect solely to: provide and operate the WatchCord Service; process your subscription and verify payment status; send transactional account notifications such as subscription confirmations, expiry reminders, and security alerts; deliver push notifications for real-time join events you have opted into; improve our platform based on usage patterns; and prevent fraud or abuse. We do not use your data for advertising purposes.
To enable real-time monitoring, WatchCord requires you to provide a connection token associated with your Discord account. This token is encrypted using industry-standard AES-256 encryption before being stored. It is never logged, displayed, or transmitted in plain text. You can disconnect and remove your token at any time from your account settings, at which point it is permanently deleted from our systems.
Your data is stored on secure cloud infrastructure with encryption at rest and in transit. We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. Access to user data is restricted to authorized systems only and is never accessed by staff except where strictly required to resolve a support issue, and only with your awareness.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party. We may share limited data with infrastructure and payment processing providers solely to operate our Service. These providers are contractually bound to protect your data and are prohibited from using it for any purpose other than providing services to WatchCord. We may disclose data if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of WatchCord and its users.
If you enable push notifications, your browser's push subscription endpoint is stored securely and used only to deliver real-time join alerts you have opted into. You can disable push notifications at any time from your account settings, and your subscription endpoint will be immediately removed from our systems.
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Join event data is retained to provide historical analytics within your dashboard. If you delete your account, all personal data including your email, hashed password, connection tokens, and join event history will be permanently removed from our systems within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain certain records such as payment transaction records.
You have the right to: access the personal data we hold about you; request correction of inaccurate data; request deletion of your account and all associated data; withdraw consent for push notifications at any time; and request a copy of your data. WatchCord uses essential authentication cookies to maintain your session and keep you logged in. These cookies are httpOnly and secure — they cannot be accessed by JavaScript and are only transmitted over encrypted connections. We do not use cookies for advertising or tracking across other websites.
WatchCord is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete that information promptly.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the revision date at the bottom of this page. Continued use of WatchCord after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
